The present 11 hectares of gardens were first enclosed by Victorian garden designer Robert Marnock in 1871 from the Capability landscape that previously spread right up to the house itself. Today, it is a mix of mature woodland and managed gardens.
Over the last 10 years the gardens have been subject to extensive development, and despite many projects that have reached completion during this time, the ongoing progression of Ragley Gardens are both relentless and inevitable.
There can be eight gardeners working in the grounds at any one time, but this rarely happens. Four of us are full time, Lee, Robert, Martyn and me. There is also one student, Chris and one old-timer, I mean part-timer, Matthew. We also have two volunteers, Pauline and Carol. Sometimes Jack pops in to do some work too.
